I met this stray cat in Seoul, Korea. While it’s definitely not a Japan cat, Seoul is only a couple hours by plane from Tokyo and besides, we all love looking at cats?
This is a working cat, though it’s also a stray.
The shop’s owner feeds the cat; the cat hangs out at the store; passersby stop to look at the cat and maybe also buy something. A win-win for everyone.
My other Substack newsletter is Fiction by Bill Adler, a biweekly short story publication. I’d be delighted if you subscribed.
Stray Cats of Japan is a photo newsletter featuring images of Japan’s stray cats, which I publish whenever a cute kitty crosses in front of my camera’s lens. I hope you enjoy these photographs.
Such unusual coloring! Looks like a mix of tortoiseshell and tabby? Looks healthy and happy.
That’s great. Animals should be in retail more often.
